Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What if I have an emergency?
Call 911 to activate the Emergency Medical System. Do not cause delay by trying to reach one of us first.

What services do you provide?
Typical outpatient family medicine services, for all ages, as listed under services and pricing. This includes evaluation of new problems, management of chronic problems, preventive care, and procedures. Private and group visits are offered. See Online Services for additional offerings.

What if I need labs or other studies?
A written order is provided to you to bring to the lab of your choice (Dr. Janners’ office, Keweenaw Memorial Medical Center in Calumet or at the Medical Arts Health Care Center, or Portage Hospital). For other studies, they are generally arranged through the hospital of your choice.

Do you do immunizations?
All immunizations are done through the Western U.P. District Health Department. Call (906) 482-7382 to schedule.

What procedures do you do?
We perform typical family medicine office based procedures that can be done with localized anesthesia. This includes joint injections, lesion removals, and “freezing” of warts. Call to inquire if you desire a procedure not listed in the list of services.

What happens if I become hospitalized?
The on-call physician at the hospital of your choice hospital will be responsible for caring for you during your stay, and you will return to our care on discharge. We are available to assist your physician by phone or with record release as desired.

Is there really no else in office?
That is correct. The core reason a patient comes to a physician office is to interact with their physician, and at Bluesky Health, that is maximized. Non-physician related tasks are currently accomplished with technology or by outside vendors. We are not opposed to hiring staff if the need is there.

If there are no other staff in the office, what do you do about female exams?
A female chaperone is hired to attend all exams involving examination of private areas of female patients. Alternatively, a female patient may bring her own chaperone with who she is most comfortable.

I don’t like answering machines. Will I get one if you don’t have staff answering the phone?
Often times you will, but that’s a good thing. The message is routed directly and immediately to us. It won’t get put in a stack or interpreted by others before we deal with it, and we regulate our schedule to answer all calls within 90 minutes during office hours. We do agree that a busy signal is annoying so we have four phone lines to virtually guarantee you won’t get that.
